If I ever have the privilege of falling in love and getting married. I swear my wedding invitation would say “Come thru, it’s lit” and nothing else. But honestly, I must to say that I attended the wedding of two close friends who I’ve known since college and they shut it down. It was LIT! Best wedding ever PERIOD.
My friends Reuben and Rhea are both 25 years old and started dating in high school. Although I haven’t know them since high school, I did meet them early in my college days and had the opportunity to room with Reuben during my summers working on Wall Street and also the opportunity to visit them while studying abroad in Turkey. When I went to visit them, Rhea held us down. I mean she set out an itinerary for me and my homie and also booked our stay near the university that her and Reuben were attending. While in Turkey, we got pretty ratchet and had a good time over the span of ten days.
You see, this couple has always inspired me culturally and spiritually and for those reasons, I am grateful to call them friends. So when it was time to tie the knot they did so in a fashion that changed the game.
Like, at this age, we associate getting married with pretty much falling off the map. Nah, not for this couple. Prior to, during and after the wedding…Everyone was turned up to the max! They hosted two separate ceremonies (one Indian and one Christian) as they honored their respective heritages. They threw a dope reception with open bar and a DJ who was spinning fire from 8 o’clock in the evening until about 1 o’clock in the morning. Needless to say, we were LIT! We jigged, schmoney danced, nae nae’d and whipped hard until we couldn’t anymore. But anyway, the realest part of all was seeing the bride and groom crush the dance floor the WHOLE entire night like they were in 1OAK with Lakers post three peat.
Having the opportunity to catch up with old friends, meet new ones (Raleigh crew) and to see what it means to truly be in love was dope AF.
Peep this, they proved to me that getting married doesn’t mean that they are retiring their jerseys but rather agreeing to enjoy the LITuation with someone you love.
Decided to throw in some pics below of some of the gawds in attendance!
